The Farm & The Feminine is a fine art photography project designed to chronicle the legacy, creativity and determination of the female farmers who tend the cannabis gardens of California’s iconic Emerald Triangle.

The photos have recently been featured in multiple magazines such as Marin Living and Cannabis Now and are a collaboration between renowned fashion and lifestyle photographer Dorit Thies and Grupo GreenLit – a cannabis culture & events platform created by California-based writer and consultant.

The body of work is an artful assemblage of landscapes, rare cannabis strains and the Ladies who tend these gardens. Shot onsite on four NorCal cannabis farms, the images are enhanced with animals, plants, flowers and found objects from the farms. Each is imbued with natural light to create a new benchmark in photographic fine art that transcends previous representations of the People, Places and Plant that are the foundation of this community.

“Persevering through challenges such as property invasions by law enforcement, wildfires, drought and new regulations”

The purpose of this visual journey is to acknowledge and celebrate the many incredible women who for decades have farmed the rugged, untamed landscapes of Northern California alongside their families, friends and neighbors. Persevering through challenges such as property invasions by law enforcement, wildfires, drought and new regulations, they have managed to sustain and nurture their families and the land while also playing a key role as caretakers of some of the most valuable caches of cannabis genetics in the world.

It is the intention of this project that by creating evocative and powerful representations of these women, that the images will elevate the stature and importance of the Ladies of the Triangle and the celebrated cannabis gardens and communities that they represent.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to these amazing women, their families and communities for allowing us to bring this project to the world.
